The storage system is one of the most important factors to consider when equipping a warehouse. For this reason, choosing the most appropriate warehouse shelving system can ensure safe and optimal movement of items, effective management, organization of warehouse inventory, and efficient use of warehouse space and space. A self-aisle storage system is a type of shelving that has unique features that distinguish it from other types of storage equipment.

A self-aisle storage system includes tunnels that, in addition to the loading location of pallet loads, are also the path of the lift truck. Drive-in shelving is an industrial storage system that has a heavy load capacity. This system has tunnels that can load unit loads weighing up to 2000 kg onto the rack rails. The method of loading and unloading loads in a one-way self-aisle system is LIFO. This type of shelving has various components and can be used to store goods in various cold stores and large warehouses (with heavy and uniform loads). The reason for the name of this type of shelving is that extra and extraneous spaces and aisles have been eliminated and there are only aisles (tunnels) in which the lift truck can move and load/unload.

Loading and unloading in this system is done with a forklift. The forklift enters each opening of these shelves and picks up the load from the ground at the end of the tunnel, then places it on the floor rails upwards and returns from the same path to exit the tunnel. This type of shelving can be done up to a height of 10 meters and the opening of this shelf can be 135 or 150 centimeters, which is selected according to the type of load and pallet and the specifications of the lift truck. When loading and unloading cargo in this system, the forklift truck must enter the system tunnel for loading, load from bottom to top at the end, and unload from top to bottom to retrieve from the front of the tunnel.

Application of self-storage system:

  • In material and product warehouses
  • Distribution centers
  • Cold storage

Self-storage system features:

Bolted connections of system components

  • Storage and retrieval of cargo based on the LIFO system (last in, first out)
  • Ability to convert to a two-way system with the FIFO system
  • Saving space by eliminating additional access aisles (in the pallet rack system) and using one aisle to access the tunnels of the storage system, increasing the density of unit loads relative to the surface by 75 percent Creating the necessary safety for stored cargo
  • Managing warehouse inventories with optimal efficiency
  • Creating the possibility of increasing operational throughput and productivity in warehouses with items in the same proportion
  • Engineered and reliable installation
  • Dimensional diversity (tunnel length – opening – height)
  • Variable load-bearing capacity
  • Ability to use fork-lift trucks to place / remove unit loads
  • Possibility of changing the vertical position of the shelves (arms) with a step of 76 mm
