In this tunnel system, the load units are placed on mobile platforms on each floor, whose moving rails are installed on the arms of the rack system in an inclined manner, and the load units are moved to the end of the tunnel in order by the pressure of the moving equipment. As each load unit is removed from the front of the shelving opening, the load unit behind it is taken up for removal under the force of gravity and the inclination of the rails. Accordingly, this storage system is classified under the LIFO system and one type of goods can be stored on each floor or opening. In this system, pallet loads with a relatively low variety and a relatively high storage volume of each variety (SKU) can be stored. The physical characteristics and structural color of this system are similar to the pallet rack storage system.
Applications of self-return shelving
- Cold storage
- Semi-finished and finished product warehouse
- Distribution centers
Self-return shelving features
- Storage and retrieval of cargo based on the LIFO system (last in, first out);
- Space saving by eliminating additional access aisles (in the pallet rack system) and using a single aisle to access the tunnels of the storage system;
- High density of cargo storage;
- Providing the necessary safety for the storage of unit loads and stored loads compared to the self-aisle system;
- Enabling warehouse inventory management with optimal efficiency;
- Enabling increased throughput and productivity in warehouses with relatively identical items;
- Engineered and reliable installation;
- Dimensional diversity (tunnel length and height (depending on the type of forklift truck) and opening);
- Load capacity according to the load transfer platforms and forklift type;
- Ability to use forklifts for loading/unloading unit loads;
- Possibility of changing the vertical position of the shelves (arms) with a pitch of 76 mm.
